Latest Staff E News - from Simone

Hello Everyone

It's been a while since I have sent a e-staff newsletter so given there has been a little happening around the organisation lately I thought it might be timely. So here we go:

AGM - the annual general meeting was held last night. Many thanks to all those staff that attended this event. The nomination for the board were announced at this meeting, with some changes:
President: Sandra Knowles
Vice President: Brett Williams
Treasurer: Naomi Close
Secretary/ Public Officer: Natalie Dobson
Board member: Gayle Gebert
Board member: Gillian Murdoch
Jodie Stokes announced her resignation from the position as President and from the board of Mersey Leven Child Care Services. We acknowledged her contribution to the MLCCS.
Celebrating 35 years - the organisation turns 35 years old in October. This is a great achievement and is to be celebrated with a number of events during the week commencing as of 22nd October:
Wine and Cheese Evening from 7.00pm on Monday 22nd October here at the terrapins at Mersey Leven. This event will be about reminiscing the past decades and also there will be an art display from children within our various services. We will also be recognising length of service milestones achieved by staff and educators.
Themed Pippa's Playspace - these will be operating Tuesday to Friday for educators, children and families. The session on Wednesday will also be open to community members.
Celebration Breakfast at 7.30am at the Cherry Shed in Latrobe. The will be an 'old' theme, with retro dress or character dress from 1977 (the year MLCCS was established) for all staff and educators.
Spreyton Outside School Hours Care - Undertook an assessment as part of the NQF. The results were recently received, with an overall rating of Working Towards. Three areas received 'Meeting' and the other four received 'Working towards'. Well done to Caroline and the team as this was an entirely new process for all staff given none of our services had been through the new assessment process.
Family Day Care - also have undertaken the assessment process as part of the NQF. We are still awaiting their results.
Congratulations to Ruth Jessup who was nominated as President of the Family Day Care Council of Tasmania at the AGM held in August.
Placements Officer - the position of Placement's Officer has recently changed (as per the 2012/13 budget). This position is now a job share role with Leonie Delphin and Angela McKendrick. There will now be a Placement Officer available Monday to Friday from 9.000am to 5.00pm. The additional responsibilities of this role now encompass taking any child care enquires on behalf of all services within the organisation. Please do not confuse this with bookings; this is just for new enquiries. This role will also be responsible for all Special Child Care Benefit, regardless of the service the family may use and will be responsible for all service marketing.

Well, I think that is about all for now.

Many thanks

Simone Collins
